MCA is very pleased to announce that Associate Anthony Gill, AIA NCARB, CSI, APTI, CSI, CDT, LEED AP BD+C has been accepted as a Visiting Scholar to the American Academy in Rome. Anthony’s project, entitled “The Culture of Practice”, will investigate the inherent differences between the practice of architecture in Italy and the United States. The American Academy in Rome is a leading center for independent studies and advanced research in the fine arts and humanities. The Visiting Artists and Scholars Program provides artists and scholars of all nationalities the opportunity to experience the intellectual and artistic freedom, interdisciplinary exchange, and innovation that characterizes the American Academy in Rome.
Practice Leader for MCA’s Historic and Adaptive Reuse studio, Anthony is the recipient of numerous design awards and participated in the Sedi di Roma program and the American Indian Housing Initiative (AIH) while studying at Penn State. He remains active in the academic community by returning to Penn State and Morgan State University to serve as a guest critic and assist in mentoring graduates in the schools’ NAAB nationally accredited architecture programs. He is also a graduate of AIA Baltimore’s Civic Lab and enjoys serving his community through various board involvements and associations.
Anthony and family will not be gone for too long, and his MCA colleagues look forward to many interesting stories (and a great presentation!) on his return.
