Maryland STEM Festival

St. Paul’s School for Girls annually hosts an event for students grades 4-12 from all schools in the area to explore careers in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) industries as part of the Maryland STEM Festival. Students circulate through different stations learning about different STEAM industries and careers by participating in hands-on activities led by volunteers from STEAM industries. On November 10, 2016, Michelle Hooper and Briana Allen represented MCA at the event. Using SketchUp Pro, they illustrated the steps taken to complete a space planning exercise for an office building. Students got a glimpse of how 3-D technology helps throughout the design process and helps explain our design intent to clients. It was the perfect opportunity to showcase the exciting and diverse field of architecture and how our profession relates to each of the STEAM categories.
