Celebrating the Life of MCA Founder, Michael Craft, AIA

By Stephen Bates, AIA, NCARB, President

It is with heavy hearts that we share with you, the news of the passing of one of our company’s founders, our friend and colleague Michael Craft, who passed away March 2nd, 2021.

Mike established Marshall Craft Associates alongside Buck Marshall in 1986 and was immediately joined by Sherrie Kormann. Together, the three worked at Richter, Cornbrooks, Gribble for many years before bravely venturing out on their own to begin a new enterprise as Marshall Craft Associates, Inc.—a company they envisioned would focus on the architectural consulting needs of owner/occupant and institutional clients.  Their dream was realized, as they quickly built a reputation for exceptional design paired with objective professionalism and responsiveness with the region’s major institutions and corporations.

Mike was known throughout the industry for the breadth of his technical knowledge, his attention to detail, and his unflappable professionalism, characteristics he shared with, and instilled in, the vast number of architects he mentored over the years. Our staff is indebted to Mike for his leadership and guidance, and those honored to have worked alongside him over these many years will miss him as a dear friend.

Our sympathies and thoughts are with Mike’s family.
