Science Teaching Laboratories

Cecil College | Northeast, MD

The new science labs are located in the existing Arts & Sciences Building. The purpose of the Science Lab Renovation project was to reconfigure the entire existing fourth floor for Biology and Chemistry instruction, with the design complementing a recently renovated general biology lab. The plan added dedicated classroom labs in microbiology, anatomy and physiology, biotechnology, and chemistry, along with supporting Prep and Equipment Rooms. This project increased the overall number of science labs and the number of student stations per lab to 24 stations.

Visually exciting and educationally compelling, small group study pods flank the academic labs, give students space to spread out for small group “jam sessions”, and put “science on display”. These spaces provide access to student experiments and instructional tools without interfering with scheduled classes in the main labs.
