Gibble Auditorium

ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE | Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania

When contemplating the renovation of the Gibble Auditorium, one of the largest gathering spaces on campus, Elizabethtown College envisioned a fully modernized and much more flexible space. First built in the 1960’s, the facility struggled with accessibility limitations, poor acoustics, inadequate lighting, educational technology and HVAC control, uncomfortable seating and a lack of production support facilities.

Located in the center of the recently renovated Masters Center for Science, Mathematics and Engineering, the completely modernized Gibble auditorium is now used extensively for both classroom lectures and for larger scale college and community events. Lighting, audio and projection technologies support activities from Friday night movies and open mike nights to small seminar groups with technology controls synchronized into a single touch screen. Suspended acoustical clouds are tuned to enhance speech, allowing seminars to function without amplification.

All existing systems were replaced and all new technology, seating and finishes were incorporated. A new control booth provides oversight over the wide array of technology that can be deployed, supporting the ever-changing needs of this re-imaginged campus asset.
