Elizabethtown College Hackman Apartments

Elizabethtown College | Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania

MCA upgraded this Elizabethtown College residence hall to create a more inviting and modern experience for their students. The existing 3-story Hackman Student Apartments were built in 2000 and 2001 but did not now meet the needs of the university or their student population. As part of their 21-year relationship with MCA, Elizabethtown reached out to MCA for design help. MCA had previously worked on 138 projects across campus—including multiple residence hall renovations of buildings dating back to the 1800s and inclusive of 1920s structures. The modernization of Hackman included changes to the layout and interior design, finish upgrades, lighting, HVAC upgrades, and changes to ADA-AG accessibility. The interior design concept included “neighborhood” identities using bold graphics and unique colors, giving the circulation spaces a contemporary look.
