New Cancer Institute

Franklin Square Hospital Center | Baltimore, MD

The New Cancer Institute is a 63,000 SF renovation project at Franklin Square Hospital. The facility provides outpatient oncology services, including chemo/fusion, radiation oncology, blood draw and lab, image recovery, patient education, physician offices, and exam rooms. The institute appeals to multiple senses, creating a comfortable and calming atmosphere, with accent lighting, soft forms, warm colors, and upscale finishes. The use of the same color palette throughout, reinforces the idea that this center can serve a patient’s comprehensive needs. A healing garden accessible from the infusion suite reinforces the calming atmosphere.

Project Highlights

  • 63,000 sq ft of newly renovated space
  • Two existing buildings from different decades with two different styles, fully renovated and adjoined with complimentary exterior materials
  • Two main entrances

  • When patients step foot into the new harry and Jeanette Weinberg Institute, they are sure to feel comforted and welcomed. This was utmost in the minds of architects at Marshall Craft Associates, Inc… Careful attention has been paid to even the smallest details from the soothing mossy green walls in the entrance way, to the vibrant green upholstery covering the chairs in the chemotherapy treatment room. It is clear the goal of the center is to help patients heal in the kindest environment possible.
