Maryland Department of Health Masterplan

Maryland Department of Health | Maryland

The MCA team recently completed an intensive planning effort with the Maryland Department of Health to develop a 20-year Master Plan for that reimagines the services the State provides, as well as how and where services are provided to Maryland residents.

The scope of work included an assessment of 14 campuses throughout the State of Maryland, totaling approximately 14 million square feet of space. The study was conducted in five phases including facility analysis, program analysis and development, area planning, priorities and budgeting, and the preparation of a consolidated 20-year masterplan.

MCA’s team worked alongside State decision-makers and stakeholders to evaluate the types of patients served including behavioral health, developmental disability, child/adolescent school programs, and long-term care to assess the efficiency of the cost of care relative to the existing facilities and geographic locations.

MCA and the State of Maryland are excited to enact the resulting plan which allows the State to focus on core programs, plan for required facility upgrades, develop public/private partnerships, and divest underutilized property throughout Maryland.
