NATIONAL PARK SERVICE

Marshall Craft Associates (MCA) has been privileged to work with the National Park Service (NPS) and Facility Engineering Associates, P.C. (FEA) in conducting ongoing and project scope development facility assessments for National Parks, Monuments, Memorials & National Historic Sites across the United States.

MCA is working as team architect with FEA and NPS to provide conceptual scope of work development on high-priority projects identified by the NPS, including park facilities, infrastructure, historic structures, and monuments.

Each project involves intense on-site assessment, programming, and design charrette exercises. The on-site visits typically range from three days to one week in duration, with a summary presentation of findings given to NPS staff at the conclusion of the charrette. The team subsequently develops a project cost estimate, which is included in the final report. MCA’s deliverables consist of detailed architectural scoping narratives, layout and relationship diagrams, programming documents, and conceptual plans, elevations and site plans.

The building types that we study vary considerably, but have included Visitors Centers, Museums, Employee Housing, Service Operations Centers, Laboratories for Natural & Cultural Artifact Stabilization, Auditorium spaces, Archiving Facilities, Law Enforcement facilities and more. Many of these facilities are registered as historic structures.
