The University of Maryland Dorchester General Hospital hired MCA to renovate their inpatient behavioral health unit in order to align the facility with the needs established by their own risk assessment and the Joint Commission’s clinical practice guidelines. MCA’s team of experts also conducted their own physical evaluation in order to provide a comprehensive list of recommendations for a behavioral health environment. The subsequent renovation was conducted in multiple phases to maintain operations and patient safety. The nursing work core was relocated and expanded to provide open views throughout the unit, and all finishes, hardware and devices were replaced in accordance with anti-ligature best practices.
