Crisis Stabilization Center

Union Hospital Of Cecil County | Elkton, MD

Marshall Craft Associates designed a 28,000 SF Crisis Stabilization Center located in Elkton, Maryland. The vision of the center was to create a peer driven recovery/resilience based crisis center for a brief stay of one to ten days that uses an integrated approach to address a person’s mental health crisis, substance use challenges and physical health needs.

The design concept recognizes that peer support is one of the most significant tools that an individual can use on their journey to recovery, resilience and wellness. The design utilizes a Living Room concept to serve adults seeking voluntary support. The Living Room has a blended staff of peer support specialists, medical/psychiatric providers, nurses and behavioral health specialists and is licensed as a Crisis Residential Service Center.

The second floor of the building houses two outpatient behavioral health clinics to offer a continuum of care to those individuals who have progressed past crisis management.
