A Vice President of the firm, Paul has 44 years of experience in the practice of Architecture with a wide range of project types including commercial, institutional, and residential design. He is highly motivated and skilled as a team leader capable of managing multiple project types and disciplines through the design process. From project concept and site analysis through project delivery, Paul uses his critical thinking abilities, excellent organizational strengths, and communication skills to produce successful projects. As a Principal in his firm and most recently as Director of Design and Construction for a mid-Atlantic development firm, he is an experienced leader in all aspects of firm management, team coordination, and delivering creative projects on time and under budget.

Paul has developed a design reputation for keeping things simple and logical while creating unique projects that express his client’s goals and aspirations. He believes that every project is an opportunity to express the client’s unique identity by distilling the client’s objectives and program to develop a clear concept to tell the clients’ story. His design philosophy is rooted in developing a sense of place by taking advantage of each sites’ unique and often hidden or ignored attributes by finding beauty where one might least expect it. Through the use of a synthesized palate of tactile materials and found objects, he strives to achieve a project that enhances the user’s sensory experience while being sustainably responsible. Several of his projects have received awards from the Maryland AIA, Baltimore AIA, IIDA, Maryland ASID and the PCBC.

Paul joined MCA in 2019 to contribute to the firm’s mission of “Do the right thing.” Through collaboration, creative thinking, and strategic planning, his goal is to advance the MCA culture that challenges our creativity while utilizing our collective experience and expertise to seek innovative and socially responsible solutions.

Did you know that …

Paul’s curiosity about how things work is part of his Architect DNA. His father taught him the art of carpentry, the appreciation for how materials work together, and the attitude of fixing something to make it better. As a result, he always has several open-ended projects of his own, which drives his family crazy… Something is always in a state of construction, deconstruction, or planning at his house.
