Rick has developed a diverse background in various project types. Once joining MCA in 1987, Rick began serving as an architect and project manager for a wide variety of project types and client organizations ranging from colleges, universities, and museums to federal agencies and Fortune 500 corporations. He has also served as a Principal and as a member of the MCA Board of Directors.

With a diverse professional background, Rick is an excellent communicator with special expertise in team management and coordination. He has extensive knowledge of codes, regulations, and laws that affect the construction industry. Because of his knowledge of construction and building codes, Mr. Barton has been able to develop creative solutions to challenging situations for more unique and often technically complex projects.

Rick has also contributed to the professional community in several substantial ways. He has served as a member of the boards or committees of various professional and civic organizations including the Baltimore County Architectural Review Board, where he participates in peer reviews for municipal design projects. As a church trustee, Rick has been on both the design and operations side of the table for large religious facilities. Rick is a licensed architect in several states and the District of Columbia. He is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and is also a LEED Accredited Professional.

Additionally, Rick’s more than 40 years of experience in the design and construction industry allow him to bring an impressive amount of practical experience to every project. He has established client relationships that have lasted many years developed through the successful completion of various projects. The long-term nature of these relationships and the range of his project experiences has allowed clients to regularly rely on him for a range of project types.
