MCA is excited to announce the Shore Medical Campus at Cambridge for the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health is now under construction. Located on Route 50 in Dorchester County, the new 81,880 SF freestanding medical facility will house a full 24/7 Emergency Department, a 43,000 SF medical services pavilion, abundant parking, and a helipad to transfer critical cases to other regional hospitals.
The new two-story building was designed to feature a 22-bed 39,000 SF Emergency Department on the first floor. The state-of-the art ED will feature 19 private treatment rooms, six private observation rooms and a separate, three-bed unit for the assessment and treatment of patients needing emergency care for behavioral health, intensive outpatient behavioral health services, infusion and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. The second floor will serve as a medical pavilion offering a wide array of services, including an outpatient surgery center, laboratory services, an MRI facility for diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation services (including the Balance Center), chronic disease management services and a community education room.
Selected for the design in early 2019, MCA provided full programming, planning, architectural and interior design services for the facility. The development of plans for the Shore Medical Campus at Cambridge was a collaborative effort involving the UM Shore Regional Health Board, Dorchester medical staff and community physicians, local and state legislators, Dorchester County and Cambridge city officials, Emergency Medical Services representatives, and civic and community leaders. Currently, the firm is providing construction administration services.

Construction is being completed by Chesapeake Contracting Group with anticipated completion by fall 2021.
